Template from here.

I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon.... It looked like fun!

It bothers me when people get all pissy someone "copied" their idea. It's understandable that people get annoyed for not being original after all, but...more than one person can have the same idea without having copied! OMG WHUT. I know, but it's true. It DOES happen!

"Copyright is a legal right to control the copying, reproduction, distribution, derivative use, and public display of your photographs [or other work] and to sue for unauthorized use of your work. This right begins automatically from the moment you record your image in tangible form, such as on film or in a digital medium and does not require registration with the copyright office or placement of a copyright notice on the image.

"To be copyrighted, ideas must be original. If you make an exact copy a photograph [or other work], or substantially similar copy of another person's copyrighted work, the copy cannot be copyrighted, since it is not original.

"Ideas, themes, and concepts are not copyrightable. Only an original expression in a tangible form, such as a photograph, can be copyrighted. You cannot copyright an idea for a photograph [or other work]; only the actual, original photograph [or other work]" ("Photography & Digital Imaging" Revised Fifth Edition 518, Marvin J. Rosen & David L. Devries).

Not sure if I have to say it, but you may use this in your dA journals or shout-out boxes or whatever if you want.

I know what you mean.

Sometimes I take different sides though...
-_-

Like, I had an idea of what I should draw for my t-shirt, and the advanced class was ahead of us, so we would be able to see the results. One girl kinda drew exactly what I had in mind! It was kinda annoying because whatever I put on paper, it seemed too much like hers (besides the fact that hers was better). I didn't want to make it seem like I was copying her...
it was quite fustrating.

and also, ed, you know that robot that you like to draw? someone did almost something VERY similiar to it on their t-shirt in my class. Only difference was, this robot is taller. I felt kinda sad because I felt like she ripped off of you -quite possible, but I doubt it.

But hey, sometimes it's good when ideas bounce off of each other.
:iconchibixestella:
Yeah, that is frustrating, but..."great minds think alike!" ...Right? I see where you're coming from there.

Also, my robot is not an idea--it's an original design.... So if they did indeed copy it, that is infringing upon my copyrights. If it was mine, though, I just hope that person didn't say it was his/hers.

I'll try to get a picture/photo of it and send it to you through e-mail (the shirts are hanging up on the walls). It just reminds me so much of your robot! I mean, if the person thought of the robot on his/her own, then it is rightfully his/hers, but if they know you or saw it on here/deviant... then, well... that makes me more upset, and I can't really go up to the person and ask....
so I'll have to send you an e-mail sometime or something...

In fact, all ideas are based on ideas before them. There is no single inventor of anything. These pseudo-artists with their copyrights are using pencils invented by other people, paper created by other people, computers created by other people, methods pioneered by other people.

To come out and say "I created this with no help from the rest of humanity, and now it's all mine and nobody else can duplicate or use it for the good of the world" is simply stealing.

You can trust me. I'm not a copyright psycho
:iconsakura-studio:
true but art thieves and ppl without any imagination rips our guts while everyone stays there without doing nothing..if you complain..they flame you...and you even get told that you copied the one who copied you....ideas cannot be copyright but i think 80% ppl here should be educated bout how to have some moral

Most of the people here don't copy ideas, they copy pictures, so they need to be kicked off the site or something. Most people copying or working off others' ideas give credit. I see what you're saying, and people are pretty twisted sometimes. Maybe we need a pre-dA where n00bs have to stay for learning how to use dA properly, and if they pass, they can get on dA, so we'll know who's really serious and who isn't.
